Special Mac requirements:

Intel-based Mac only: Windows Media Player 9 for Mac is not a Universal application and must be run under Rosetta emulation. As such, the browser must also be forced to run under Rosetta as well. This is a temporary workaround until a practical solution is available.

Steps for configuring the browser to run under Rosetta emulation:
  • Go to the Applications folder.
  • Ctrl click the browser icon (e.g. Safari, Firefox) and click "Get info".
  • Check the box labelled "Open using Rosetta".
The next time the web browser is launched it will run under Rosetta emulation.

Instructions for troubleshooting Mac playback in Mediasite 4.2 and earlier can be found in the following document: Mediasite Presentations on the Mac.

Additional Comments:
  • The Windows Media Audio 9 Voice codec is not supported in the Silverlight player or Flip4Mac plug-in, and the ACELP.net codec is not available for the Mac. Presentations that will be viewed from a Mac should use the standard Windows Media Audio 9 codec.
  • The Flip4Mac plug-in causes problems when viewing Mediasite presentations and should be disabled. See KBA10148 for instructions on how to disable it.
