Ken Radley and Sharna Westley, South West Institute of TAFE, Victoria, present the session VeMentoring : Yarping Out Project.

The project uses online applications and platforms to re-engage young learners and provide a "virtual class" and cohort of students to engage and support students to return to further accredited vocational education and training. The project is underpinned by the highly successful Youth Access Reengagement Program (YARP) devised by South West Institute of TAFE and now utilised in many education settings. YARP is an assertive outreach based engagement and education model, providing individualised and small group accredited training.

A partnership between Lady Gowrie Childcare Centre, Sydney and TAFE NSW, Sydney Institute was established to facilitate an opportunity for the delivery of training programs in Early Childhood. This project is a completely new e-learning practice. The primary focus was to develop a pilot e-learning program for a specific target group.

James Croft, Learning Technologist and Noela Dillon, Training Liaison Officer, Queensland VET Development Centre, present the session VeMentoring : JAC - Making Assessment Easy in my.TAFE.

The Janison Assessment Centre (or JAC for short) is a new addition to my.TAFE which gives teachers a new way to access assessment items. Margaret Spears, Business Capability Consultant, Community Services and Health Faculty, North Coast TAFE, Coffs Harbour, presents the session VeMentoring : DOVE - Developing Ongoing Vocational Education for Aged Care.

Catholic Healthcare Ltd (CHCS) operates 39 residential aged care communities and three community hospitals across NSW and South East Qld. To ensure their employees have current skills, CHCS builds on its e-learning strategies by finding a variety of different cost effective methods of delivering training.

The primary focus of the project was to provide a range of responsive best practice professional development opportunities that can be quickly developed and delivered in the workplace to a range of workers in the Aged Care Industry sector by utilising NSW North Coast TAFE’s HEALNet program.

The program consists of a series of short, sharp professional development topics that were made available electronically for use by the Aged Care industry. The secondary focus of the project was to provide CHCS with the opportunity to become more engaged in e-learning, catering to a regional and metropolitan audience.

Jamie Griffiths (Education Manager, Educational Quality, GCIT) and Jackie Smollet (Compliance Auditor, GCIT) present the session VeMentoring : GCIT Assessment Practices Refocussed Training.

* GCIT has embraced the Assessment Foundations Resources produced in conjunction with the Capability Builders Assessment project coordinated by PSS and facilitated by Rob Stowell during 2009.

* This innovative program has been customized to the needs of GCIT teachers and tutors by Jamie Griffiths and Jackie Smollet under the umbrella of Clint Bryant Associate Director of Educational Quality.

* It involves 5 mandatory sessions and 2 elective sessions and the goal is for all fulltime, contract and casual teachers to participate in this professional development by the end of 2010.

Allison is the National Business Manager of the E-portfolios Business Activity for the Australian Flexible Learning Framework.

E-portfolios have been recognised as providing huge benefits to the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector in Australia, especially to help people manage their information and support transitions in VET, further training/education and employment.

Brendan Kelly, eChampion, BNIT Learning Hubs, presents the session VeMentoring : Create a Stock Image Repository.

The challenge is already out there for educational providers to make e-learning environments more motivating. Visual imagery can speak to learners in many meaningful ways and maintaining a 'stock' repository could multi-benefit your organisation and set you apart from the crowd.
